Microsoft's Surface line of hardware is among the best you'll find for the Windows operating system. Microsoft's Surface series, originally just a tablet, has grown over the years to include everything from the conventional laptop to a massive desktop. But, among the wide range of Microsoft laptops, it is never easy to choose the one because every other Microsoft laptop stands ahead in the market competition and has its own place. If you are in the same trouble of choosing the right surface laptop, which suits best of your needs, then laptop Outlet has your back!

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go

Few could have predicted Microsoft's hardware lineup would grow so rapidly from its humble beginnings with a single 2-in-1 Surface in 2012. There are currently nine distinct product lines, with four entirely new pieces of hardware having been introduced in only the past three years.

The most recent of these is the Surface Laptop Go, a classic clamshell laptop meant to compete with the premium Surface Laptop 3 but at a lower price point. Microsoft's Surface Go range, which debuted in 2018 as a more affordable Surface Pro and is currently in its second iteration, is an attempt to replicate the company's previous success.

Since laptops are expected to be in high demand in 2023, now is a good moment to introduce a cheap model. But does the money spend in purchasing a standard Surface Laptop justifies what you get in return? Find out what happens next by reading on the premium features of Microsoft Surface Laptop Go series.

Features

Display

Let's begin with the display, undoubtedly the most vital component of any laptop. The Laptop Go has a 12.4-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1536 by 1024. The colours on the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go are deep and vivid, and the level of detail is superb. In tests, its brightness peaked at 310 nits, making it practical for use even in intense sunlight. On the other hand, it gets difficult to see the screen in the direct sunshine.

The 3:2 aspect ratio is useful for this since it creates a boxier appearance than the more common 16:9 screens while still providing for ample vertical display space. The tablet looks and feels more up to date than even the Surface Laptop 3 thanks to its extremely thin bezels.

It features a 12.4-inch laptop display, which is an excellent choice for anyone who values productivity and visual experience. With a larger screen size, you have the ability to have more content visible on the screen at once, making it easier to multitask and work more efficiently. This larger display can also provide a more immersive visual experience, whether you are watching movies, playing games or using graphic design software. Additionally, the larger size typically allows for better color accuracy and clarity, providing a more vivid and enjoyable visual experience. Despite its larger size, Surface laptops with 12.4-inch displays are still relatively portable, making them an ideal option for those who need a larger screen but still want the convenience of a laptop. Thus, the Microsoft Surface Go Laptops are lightweight and easy to carry. Moreover, it is nice to know that touch support is also available.

Design and Structure

The Laptop Go has a high-end look that belies its low-price tag. The aluminium and polycarbonate construction are standard for modern laptops and contributes to the device's stylish appearance. The choice of materials also helps the laptop to stay incredibly light — at only 1.1kg, it is much less heavy than both Surface Laptop 3 variants.

The keyboard on this laptop is the single most stunning feature, even more so than the screen. The Laptop Go greatly benefits from Microsoft's ability to pack a full-size keyboard onto a device less than 11 inches wide. Keys are tactile and responsive, delivering an impressive amount of travel considering the slimline body. However, Microsoft Surface Go Laptops feature backlit f=keyword which helps you work without any hassle even in the dark. While it may not be nearly as nice as the Surface Book 3, its far lower price tag more than makes up for its shortcomings.

The power button also acts as a fingerprint scanner thus, you can quickly start your laptop with AI quick fingerprint scanner. The other biometric option is face unlock through the 0.9Mp webcam, which is also capable of outputting 720p video for the all-important video calls. It gives much clearer than image or video than the average webcams, that are inbuild in the laptops of same price range.

However, it's obvious that this laptop was made with the telecommuting workforce in mind. There are two far-field studio mics for crystal-clear calls, and the Dolby Audio speakers guarantee a listening experience to match. The latter has a tad bit more bass, but that's to be expected with a device of this size and shape. The Surface Mobile Mouse is an excellent solution to one of these issues because of how easily it connects and how well it performs on a flat surface.

Ports and Connections

The Surface Laptops have a standard set of connections, like those seen on previous models. There is a Surface Connect port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and a USB-A port for charging and data transfer. Microsoft is sticking with their proprietary charging system despite the fact that it is finicky and often falls out of place.

Performance and Hardware

Each Microsoft Surface Go has a 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor with UHD graphics. There is variation in the available space, you can have 4GBs to 16 GB Space with up to 256 GB SSD storage.

The Laptop Go has no trouble keeping up with everyday workload of multiple Chrome tabs, Slack, and the occasional photo edit. The laptop's good performance is quite up to the challenge of handling graphic-intensive applications like gaming or video editing.

The Laptop Go's performance is generally on par with that of other devices in its price range.

Battery Timing

The Laptop Go has certain battery life that any gamer or business demand. Microsoft does not specify the device's battery capacity but says it may last "all day" with normal use (about 13 hours).

As per our teste, playback of a 720p video was recorded for 10 hours, 47 minutes with the brightness adjusted to 120 nits (63%). That's about par for the course among the laptops we tested, though it's highly improbable that you'll be working steadily on a single activity for the entire day.

Your regular workweek may involve extensive use of electronic communication tools like email, word processing documents, and group chat software like Slack, so you can rely on the Surface Go laptops. However, you often find yourself requiring a boost after few hours of work. I had the gadget set to "greater performance;" if you priorities battery life, you may be able to get a little more out of it than I did.

In any case, if you plan on using the Surface Laptop Go as your primary computer, you shouldn't venture too far from an electrical outlet. For what it's worth, I was able to charge the battery to 37% in 30 minutes using the provided 39W adaptor. That translates to about 2 hours and 40 minutes to fully charge.

Some Flaws - Considerations!

Although, the Microsoft surface go offers plenty of wonderful features that surprise you but still everything comes with good and bad. The 12.4-inch display is a little smaller than what you are probably used to on other flagship laptops, and Microsoft surface Go does not claim to be Full HD, but both are minor quibbles once you start using the gadget.

Additionally, the incredibly loud fan noise may be a major annoyance for you. Even when doing routine operations, this kicks off, making a noise like a plane taking off once a large download is initiated. Microsoft should have provided a more effective cooling solution, especially considering the prevalence of fanless laptop designs.

Final Verdict

It was almost inevitable that Microsoft will offer a more affordable clamshell device at some time, given the success of the Surface Go range. The Surface Laptop Go fits the bill, but it falls short of expectations as mentioned above. However, the Laptop Go's primary selling feature, its low price, which offers abundance of excellent features as compared to the laptops that are available in this price range.

As the battery timing is concerned, the Microsoft surface Go laptops give a full day working without any hassle. Moreover, the lightweight makes it easy to carry anywhere, anytime. So even if your work required a lot of travelling or you are a long-hour gaming freak, Surface Go Range never disappoints you.

It is not wrong to say that the Surface Laptop Go still has a lot going for it. The top-tier model mentioned-above has respectable performance, and it is impressive to know that such a high-quality keyboard and screen could be packed into such a compact chassis. Also contributing to an excellent auditory experience are the two studio-quality microphones and Dolby Audio speakers.

Cutting the long story short….

If you need a laptop for everyday usage that won't break the bank and has a long battery life, look no further than Microsoft's Surface line of computers. Microsoft's Surface laptop is speedy, has a lot of storage space, and a powerful processor. This means it can process large amounts of data and is thus suitable for both students and professionals.

These Microsoft laptops are incredibly intuitive and will provide you with a top-notch learning experience. They provide the best visual effects, mic noises, and an overall good sound experience, making them ideal for presentations and online interactive sessions. In any case, I'd reiterate that these Microsoft laptops are an excellent choice for anyone on a tight budget.
