Gaming-Focused Design
The HP OMEN Gaming Laptop
16-ap0300na is designed as a performance-oriented laptop for gaming,
entertainment, and demanding everyday computing. Its Shadow Black
chassis with a black chrome OMEN logo gives the system a distinctive
gaming-focused appearance, while the 16-inch form factor provides a
spacious working and viewing area. Measuring approximately 35.75 x 26.9
cm and weighing around 2.45 kg, it is designed primarily as a
desktop-replacement style laptop rather than an ultra-portable system.
The full-size keyboard includes a numeric keypad and four-zone RGB
backlighting, while 26-key rollover anti-ghosting technology is included
for responsive keyboard input. The overall design combines a large
display, dedicated graphics, substantial cooling requirements, and
practical connectivity for a range of gaming and computing applications.
16-Inch Display
The laptop features a
16-inch diagonal IPS display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 16:10
aspect ratio. Its refresh rate can operate between 60Hz and 144Hz,
providing flexibility for different types of content and compatible
gaming workloads. The micro-edge design helps maximise the usable screen
area, while the anti-glare surface is designed to reduce reflections
during use. The display is rated at 300 nits brightness and covers 62.5%
of the sRGB colour gamut. HP also specifies flicker-free operation for
this configuration. With its 16-inch size and WUXGA-class resolution,
the screen provides a broad workspace for games, applications, websites,
multimedia, and other visual content. The non-touch panel keeps the
system focused on traditional keyboard, touchpad, and
external-controller interaction.
AMD Ryzen and NVIDIA
Graphics
The OMEN 16-ap0300na is
equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor featuring 16 cores and 32
threads, with boost speeds of up to 5.3GHz and 64MB of L3 cache.
Dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU graphics with 8GB of GDDR7
memory provide a separate graphics solution for compatible games and
visually demanding applications. The system also includes 24GB of
DDR5-5200 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD. This combination
provides a substantial hardware configuration for multitasking, gaming,
content creation, media work, and other demanding workloads. The laptop
runs Windows 11 Home, providing a familiar operating environment for
compatible software, games, applications, and services.
Connectivity and
Communication
The laptop provides a
broad selection of ports for gaming peripherals, displays, storage
devices, networking equipment, and other accessories. Connectivity
includes one USB Type-A port with a 10Gbps signalling rate, two
additional USB Type-A 5Gbps ports, one USB Type-C 10Gbps port with USB
Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and HP Sleep and Charge support.
HDMI 2.1 provides an additional display connection, while an RJ-45
Gigabit Ethernet port offers wired networking. Wireless connectivity is
provided through MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3. For
communication, the system includes an HP True Vision 1080p FHD camera
with temporal noise reduction and dual-array digital microphones. These
features make it suitable for online gaming, video calls, streaming,
meetings, and other communication activities.
Audio, Battery and
Practical Features
The OMEN 16-ap0300na
includes dual speakers supported by HP Audio Boost, HyperX, and DTS
Ultra technology for compatible audio content. Power is supplied by a
230W AC adapter, while the 83Wh six-cell lithium-polymer battery
supports fast charging, with HP specifying approximately 50% charge in
30 minutes under suitable conditions. The system provides two M.2 slots
for SSD storage, giving the platform additional storage configuration
flexibility. Security features include a camera privacy shutter and
firmware-based TPM support. The keyboard's four-zone RGB lighting allows
the illuminated areas to be configured for a more personalised setup,
while the numeric keypad adds convenience for users who regularly enter
numbers. Overall, the combination of a large display, AMD processing,
dedicated NVIDIA graphics, modern connectivity, and gaming-oriented
input features provides a comprehensive setup for demanding computing
environments.
