The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15 series makes another addition to its collections, with another notebook that AMDs Zen 2-based Ryzen 7000 Series processors, which provides more performance for a similar cost.

Design

The IdeaPad Slim 3 is packaged in an Artic Grey chassis, where its surface is treated by the In-Mold Decoration by Roller that adds more grip to the touch. The top and bottom panels are crafted from AC-ABS Plastic, which also respects the price and makes the product lightweight as well, making the package weigh around just 1.62 kg/3.57 lbs.

AMD Ryzen 3 Laptop

The processor chosen is the AMD Ryzen™ 5 7520U quad-core CPU, which is an entry-level, budget-oriented unit from the 7000 series. It is configured with 4 cores and 8 threads allowing it to support multithreaded applications, L1, L2, and L3 cache of 256 KB, 2 MB, and 4 MB respectively. The setup is configured at a base clock frequency of 2.4 GHz, which for such a slim and sleek product is already astounding, and can also be overclocked to a max clock frequency of 4.1 GHz, making it reach its limits.

Based on TSMCs 6nm FinFET Technology the default TDP of the 7320 U is limited to just 15 watts, so it can also help to bump (up) the battery capacity offered.

The graphics support is provided by the integrated AMD Radeon 610M graphics, which boast a total core count of 2 at a frequency of 1900 MHz. Its presence allows the system to handle some slightly graphics-intensive applications like rendering and modeling.

Memory and Storage

The setup is installed with an onboard soldered memory of 16 GB belonging to the LPDDR5 platform, which can be transferred at a rate of 5500 MT/s, enabling the notebook to remain more fluid during multitasking.

The storage drive has a capacity of 512 GB and is responsible for storing the operating system and its compatible applications. It is a PCIe Gen 4.0x4 2242 NVMe Solid State Drive, which provides faster read and write rates, making the process of booting the device and launching any onboard application a lot quicker. It can also be swapped with a bigger capacity module, in exchange for more storage.

Display

The display panel is a 15.6-inch IPS panel, which means it will provide better color accuracy and contrast as compared to TNs. It can display at a resolution of Full HD 1920 x 1080 while achieving a maximum attainable brightness of 300 nits. With the support of Anti-glare, all sorts of light glares are cleverly ignored allowing the user to concentrate more on his/her work.

Battery

The battery included inside is an Integrated 47 Wh unit, which is refueled using the 65W Round Tip (3-pin) AC Adapter that is provided with the package.

Keyboard and Trackpad

Fundamentally the user input is provided to the laptop using the full-size Non-backlit, English (UK) keyboard, and a Buttonless Mylar® surface fully clickable multi-touch touchpad that supports Precision Touch and multi-gesture input.
