Wall mounting your TV saves space, gives your setup a sleek look, and keeps your screen at the perfect viewing height. Ready to transform your living room? Here’s how to do it.

Choose the Right Wall Mount

There are three main types:

  • Fixed Mount: Keeps the TV flush against the wall
  • Tilt Mount: Adjusts vertically for better viewing angles
  • Full-Motion (Swivel) Mount: Best for flexibility and corner installations

Check your TV’s size and weight to ensure compatibility.

Gather Your Tools

You’ll need:

✔ Drill and drill bits
✔ Stud finder
✔ Spirit level
✔ Tape measure
✔ Screwdriver
✔ TV mount kit (with screws and bolts)

Find the Perfect Spot

  • Use a stud finder to locate sturdy wall studs
  • Mark the desired height (eye level when seated is ideal)
  • Avoid mounting above fireplaces—it can strain your neck and damage the TV

Install the Wall Bracket

  1. Hold the mount against the wall and mark drill holes
  2. Drill pilot holes into the studs
  3. Secure the wall bracket with bolts, using a level to keep it straight

Attach the TV to the Bracket

  1. Fix the mounting plate to the back of your TV
  2. Lift the TV and hook it onto the wall bracket (get help for larger screens)
  3. Tighten any locking screws to secure it

FAQs: Mounting a TV on the Wall

1. Can I mount a TV on a plasterboard wall?
Yes—but only with special anchors or by securing to studs.

2. How high should I mount my TV?
The centre of the screen should be at eye level when seated.

3. Do I need a professional installer?
Not always—DIY is fine if you have the right tools and help.

4. Can I hide the cables?
Yes—use cable management kits or in-wall solutions.

5. What if I can’t find wall studs?
Use a solid wall anchor system or consider a floor stand instead.
